My name is Elizabeth Athena Adamidis. I am a graduate of York University in Toronto, Canada, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, with minors in Psychology and Philosophy.
After graduating in 1996, I decided to spend some time in Greece, where I ultimately remained. My permanent residence is currently in Thessaloniki, but I spend a good part of the year in Toronto. My experience in teaching began in 1996, at foreign language schools in and around the city of Thessaloniki. My students at that time were mainly children and teenagers who followed a set curriculum and aimed to acquire a language certification. Eventually, I also began working with university students and adults who required more demanding certifications, to verify their level of competence for undergrad or post-grad programs, or for employment requirements.
In 2006, I also began working as an examination invigilator and oral examiner for official bodies. Since then, I have been working in this capacity for several organisations and universities. In 2013, I started spending my summers near Brighton in the UK, teaching at an English language summer camp, where I worked with students from all over Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In 2015, I accepted a position in the English Department at a private school in Thessaloniki, teaching middle and high school students, heading the Proficiency, Remedial and Debate Clubs in English, as well as coordinating Erasmus programs.
Although I have always loved being in a classroom setting, I also appreciate the freedom and flexibility that remote teaching has afforded me. Since 2022, most of my work has been carried out online, though I do assist a number of private institutions with their English programs, competitions, events and exam preparations. I conduct my lessons by using materials and apps that make learning easier and stress-free. All you need is a stable connection and a very basic knowledge of computers – no specific skills required!
